Movie Review for The Couple's Retreat

     This is my movie review for  Couples Retreat. These days with 3 kids and tons of doctor appointments, school activities and family functions, and college, it's really hard to have the time to watch a movie in it's entirety. I was able to watch this movie all the way through! The genre of the movie is comedy.  The most common characteristic of a comedy film is the way it makes the viewer feel great. It has to be hilarious and make the viewer laugh outloud without even thinking.  The Couples Retreat definatly made me feel great and laugh outloud all the way through.  This movie is worth seeing for that reason alone!

     Couples Retreat is about 4 couples who end up at a resort called Eden West and Eden East. One side is for couples and therapy and the other is a wild singles resort. The movie starts up with them heading to the couples side for many activities and therapy. They end up on the singles side more happy and together. This comedy brought many of the characteristics of all out funny, awkward moments, awkward nudity, and leave feeling good movie.  Couples Retreat brought these characteristics to life throughout the entire movie on both sides of the island. Of course the whole movie was funny and I laughed many times in my end of day exhaustion, but the awkward moments were hilarious. The most awkward moments were the with the yoga instructor and his crazy, sexual poses. The wives were very much OK with these two person moves that didn't involve their husbands, but involved the hot, tan, muscular instructor. The most awkward moment was when all four couple were told to undress to their underwear and the the character known as Shane didn't have anything on under his shorts. Just wait and see if he takes off his shorts! All four couples have very different relationships. Most viewers could probably relate to at least one of the four couples, which would make some scenes even more hilarious to them. One couple was heading for divorce and couldn't conceive, they were the reason everyone agreed to head out on this adventure. Another couple seemed perfect, with kids. The next couple didn't event talk to each other anymore and the husband was trying to head to the other side of the island where the singles were. The last couple was a 40 something with a 20 something. The female in that relationship called her boyfriend "Daddy". This was the only couple that wasn't married. I loved the one extreme relationship to the other extreme because it seems like we have all been in one of there scenarios at least once before. The "leave feeling good" part of the movie is when, all couples are happy and with the one they want to be with, for the right reasons.

     All in all, this movie was well worth my loss of sleep. I think a wide range of ages and both sexes will enjoy this movie because it had young and old characters, and viewpoints from both sexes in the relationships. There are may scenes that are very hilarious and suspenseful. The characters could be described as crazy from time to time, and crazy is very funny. The ladies have to enjoy the love and lust connections to their husbands, boyfriends and the hot yoga instructor. The Characters in this movie are a awesome list of well known comedy film actors, such as: Jason Bateman, Vince Vaughn, Kristen Bell, Jon Favreau, Malin Ackerman, and Kristen Davis. I believe this movie is comparable to other hot comedy movies like 50 First Dates, The wedding Singer, 27 dresses, There's Something About Mary. All of these have an all-star cast, hilarious, and have  a touch of romance.

     Sorry it took so long to correct this blog according to the assignment sheet. I had a few computer problems, but it is all fixed now!  I made a few changes by first seperating the blog into paragraphs so it would be easier to read.  I added many lines that were needed according to the assignment sheet. A few of the new lines included were:  Common characteristics, discussing how it works within the genre, comparing to other similar movies, and why I thought it was worth seeing.  I kept who the reader of the blog is written for because a college student can be anyone from 17 years old to whenever.  I know a 17 year old might view this movie differently than a 30 or 50 year old, but in this life college students come from everywhere and every age.  That's why I thought this movie was awesome. It had realtionships from all walks of life and very different situations for each couple to go through. This is just like college students; they are single, married, divorced, cheating, have children, can't have children, and all learn about love.

Olivia The Trooper

My daughter Olivia Morgan Was born October 23rd, 2009. She has had alot of health issues in her tiny little life. A few hours after she was born she would stop breathing when she ate or slept. She had a lot of monitors attached to her that would signal when she stopped breathing by monitoring her O2 levels. Olivia had to stay in the hospital longer than I did. It was very difficult to leave your new baby and go home. Olivia was able to come home a few days later with a Apnea Monitor. My husband and I had to learn CPR also. This machine can leave you on edge. She was able to come off the machine at 7 months. Yea!




Olivia's heart condition was and still is a concern but it wasn't obvious to the naked eye. She had a small hole in her heart. The concern with this is that too much blood could enter the left side of the heart and cause it to enlarge. We are so glad that the hole is smaller and smaller every time we go to the doctor for an ultrasound. The doctor said that we should not worry.



Olivia's 3rd health issue is that she has scoliosis and tortacolis. She currently goes to Physical Therapy a couple times a week to try to reverse the curvature. She loves all the attention and the massages. She seems to straighten more as she gets around more. She currently can crawl and pull her self up too. These are great accomplishments considering the problem.



During the past winter Olivia became very ill. I took her to an emergency clinic because she was dehydrated and had a fever. After waiting a few hours to be seen her temperature spiked to a whopping 103.9. She had to be transported to the hospital by an ambulance. She was there for three days.



Olivia is a trooper, and can beat anything! She shows progress every day with the health issues that she still has. She will succeed thanks to everyone's prayers.
